Color Accuracy

ColorFlowTools calculates colors precisely, but several factors outside our control affect how colors actually look. This page explains the limits so you can rely on our tools appropriately.

Screens vary

• The same color can look different on different screens depending on the display technology and settings.
• Monitor calibration affects results; an uncalibrated screen can shift colors noticeably.

Conversions are approximate

• RGB-to-CMYK conversion is a mathematical estimate and does not account for inks, paper, or a color profile.
• Printed results routinely differ from what you see on screen.
• Round-trip conversions between color spaces can differ by a unit due to rounding.

Names and palettes depend on data and algorithms

• Color names reflect the closest match in the standard CSS color list and are approximate.
• Image palettes depend on the extraction algorithm and its settings, so results vary by image and options.

When to use professional color management

For professional printing or brand-critical work, use a color-managed workflow with ICC profiles from your print provider and, where possible, physical proofs. Treat our output as a fast, convenient guide rather than a certified color reference.
